Blood Pressure

High Blood Pressure is a silent killer in America. You don’t feel if you have it, but it puts a big stress on your heart. Normal blood pressure is 120/80 or lower. High blood pressure is more dangerous than low blood pressure.

There are several things you can do to improve your condition:

1. You can limit your salt intake and reduce the sodium in your diet. Read the labels on packages. If it shows high sodium content, don’t eat it.

2. Saturated and Trans fat are not good for your blood pressure. You’ll find it in meat and dairy products; fried foods should especially be avoided.

3. Too much alcohol is bad for you, but if you have high blood pressure, you should not drink.

4. Exercise is another very important factor to improve your life, in many ways.

5. Getting enough rest and meditation can change your life for the better.

6. Keep your weight down. Being overweight will raise your blood pressure, in most cases.

7. Things you should eat when you have high blood pressure:

Fruits, vegetables, and foods that contain potassium, calcium, and magnesium, like bananas, broccoli, potatoes, avocados, cantaloupe, and kidney beans.

Always check with your doctor to find out if it is enough to change your lifestyle and diet, or if you need some medication to lower your blood pressure. If you are already on medication, never stop taking it without your doctor’s permission.
